My name is Avon McLaughlin, and I’ve dedicated my working life to building the best possible skills to help farmers and their families bank on a better future.
I’ve lived and breathed all things farming since a young age. I grew up on farms in the Wairarapa and southern Waikato, before leaving school to pursue a degree in agricultural commerce from Lincoln College, and progressed forward from there.
My experience in the field stretches back to 1976 when I landed my first role with the Rural Bank. I’ve worked in areas such as farm appraising, sharemilking, farm consulting, project management, valuation, and more.
In over 40 years of farm management experience, I’ve learnt the complexities and the technical details needed to help you set up your future.

Testimonial
When my father died in 1987, Avon was engaged to supervise the family farm in Reporoa. These were difficult financial times and first priority was to restructure borrowing if the farm was to be retained. An ongoing requirement was for my mother to enjoy her remaining years worry free in the family home. The farm has continually been developed with more subdivision, reticulated water supply and re-grassing, along with extensive soil and water conservation retirement and planting. This, and the demonstrated management, assisted in my bank's decision to finance my buying out of my three brothers and sister. I am please to have Avon as my professional trustee. To sum up - Avon has provided continuity and a professional independent input to the management of the farm on both operational and strategic levels.
